What are the best conditions to use SCD?

SCD works best in direct sunlight or in UV black light.  The more exposure to these lights, the more powerful the effect.  NOTE:  Long exposure to the sun can damage the color changing effect in the pigment and render it inert.   Over time the pigment will break down and stop changing color.

Does SCD change colors in Sunlight as well as UV black light?

YES!  That is what makes our product so unique!  Unlike other UV sensitive powders, SCD changes colors in direct sunlight and UV black light.

How long does the effect last?

The color changing effect varies with each color but in lasts approximately (in seconds): Blue-:05, Orange-:15, Yellow-:30, Purple-:30, Green-:30 & Red-:60.  These studies vary with each application the dust is applied to & may not be exact.  After taken out of direct sunlight or UV light, it changes back to the original white base color and can be used over and over again!

What can I mix SCD with?

SCD is a micro-encapsulated powder that is used primarily for solvent borne or plastic systems.

In order for SCD to work in it’s full potential it should be mixed with only clear bases.  Exposure to the sun over time will damage the color changing effect in the pigment.

NOTE:  USING SCD WITH PLASTIC RESIN CAN AFFECT CURE TIMES.  PLEASE ALLOW FOR FULL CURE OF 24 HOURS OR LONGER TO ENSURE YOUR PROJECT IS FULLY CURED PRIOR TO HANDLING.

3D Magnetic Pigments

What is 3D Magnetic Pigment?

3D Magnetic Pigment is a pearlescent pigment which contains iron oxide.  The pigment is susceptible magnetism and creates different patterns based on the field the magnet creates.  Similar in popular magnetic nail polish, this pigment can be used in any clear medium to be used (resins, varnishes, clear coats ect...).  It only take 5-10% pigment by volume to base to create different patterns.  Different bases and magnets will give different results.  Too much pigment will result in adverse or no effect.  Testing is recommended in order to achieve desired outcome in different materials used with the pigment.
