Description:

Liquid Crystal® is a specialty material that changes colors multiple times within a window of activation temperatures - just like in a mood ring! 

This 12 Color Liquid Crystal® will change colors resembling Black, Brown, Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Pink, Yellow, Green Blue & Purple between the temperatures of 60ºF and 90ºF, providing a wide window of change!

This specialty material can be used on a variety of different projects, but be careful to follow the instructions listed here on the website and on the product packaging - this product can be easily damaged if used incorrectly, resulting in a project that will no longer change colors.

PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING:

Pure Form is the thickest form of Liquid Crystal®, perfect for applying by paintbrush or dotting tools. (Best for Nail Art and other small projects.)  This 1/2 oz jar contains 10 grams of Liquid Crystal®.

Do not mix Liquid Crystal® with any other mediums, as this can damage the color changing effect!

It should be applied directly to a dry black surface and sealed once the desired effect is achieved. Please, follow directions carefully.

Instructions for Use:

DO NOT MIX LIQUID CRYSTAL® WITH ANY OTHER MEDIUMS! This will damage the product, and you will not be able to achieve the desired effect!

Liquid Crystal® must be applied directly to a dry black surface.

Shake jar well before use.

Apply desired number of coats, drying each layer with a hair dryer or heat gun on low setting before adding the next.

• Note: Liquid Crystal® is water based and brushing multiple layers can peel up the previous coat. Make sure coats are thin and dried well before adding an additional coat.

Seal with a tested and approved clear coat - Clear Epoxy Resin or Model Master Enamel both work well.

For Nail Art, start with a dry black base. Paint smooth coat, design, or use dotting tools to apply. Dry completely. Seal with a clear gel coat. Make sure ALL edges are completely sealed to prevent peeling.

Which Version of Liquid Crystal® is Best for Your Project?

Please, read over the following information to find which version will fit your needs!

• Pure Form - Best for use in Nail Art and brushing onto small projects.
  • Start with a dry black surface.
  • Apply a thin coat of Liquid Crystal® with a brush.
  • Dry with hair dryer or heat gun.
  • Repeat steps 2 & 3 until you have applied 3-4 coats. You should be able to see the colors begin to change as you are drying!
  • Once you have achieved your desired effect, seal with a tested Clear Coat. Epoxy Resin works best for projects. Gel Clear Coat works best for Nail Art.
  • Make sure ALL edges of Liquid Crystal® are thoroughly sealed to prevent peeling.

• Sprayable Concentrate - Best for spray application with a high powered airbrush to achieve a smooth finish.
  • Start with a dry black surface.
  • Spray from about 1 foot away from your project to prevent droplets from gathering into drippage.
  • If needed, a small amount of filtered water can be used to dilute for better spraying. (Keep in mind that the more highly diluted it is, the more coats will be required for vivid color change.)
  • Apply a thin coat with even coverage.
  • Dry with hair dryer or heat gun.
  • Repeat previous 2 steps until 4-5 thin coats have been applied.
  • Once you have achieved your desired result, seal with clear epoxy resin.

• Low PSI Liquid Crystal® - Best for use in Low PSI airbrush systems. Do Not Dilute!
  • Start with a dry black surface.
  • Spray a thin coat with even coverage, covering the entire surface area.
  • Dry with hair dryer or heat gun.
  • Repeat steps 2&3 until 7-10 thin coats have been applied.
  • Once you have achieved your desired result, seal with clear epoxy resin.

• Brushable Liquid Crystal® - our newest form of Liquid Crystal is specifically designed for use by brushing against textured black surfaces.
  • Apply the amount of coats to your project and let dry completely.
  • Seal with epoxy resin for protection.
  • Note: Brushable Liquid Crystal® may slightly repel against smooth surfaces.
  • It is recommend to use 1-2 thin coat of Brushable Liquid Crystal on your project.
  • Do Not Dilute Brushable Liquid Crystal.
